There are certain fashion pieces that quietly become part of your identity. For me, it is the Papa’s Cap — what many people online refer to as a flat cap. What started as a simple style choice gradually became an obsession. Not just because of how it looks, but because of how it feels.
In my society, the Papa’s Cap carries presence. It has personality. I love wearing it because it never feels ordinary. Whenever it sits on my head, it feels intentional. It sharpens my appearance. It adds weight to my posture. There is a confidence that comes with it — subtle, but undeniable. It’s not loud, yet it commands attention.

I notice the same energy when others wear it. On the streets, at social gatherings, and even on celebrities, the cap transforms the wearer. It frames the face with authority and style. It blends tradition and modern fashion effortlessly. Whether paired with native attire or contemporary outfits, it always completes the look. It is simple, yet powerful.
This fascination inspired my painting series titled “The Guy Men.”
In this body of work, I created abstract figures, each crowned with the Papa’s Cap. These are not literal portraits of specific individuals. They are expressions of attitude. Through bold colours, expressive dots, and layered patterns, I explore how fashion shapes identity. Each figure carries a distinct presence — confident, stylish, self-assured.
The cap becomes more than fabric. It becomes a symbol. A symbol of boldness. A symbol of standing out. A symbol of self-awareness and pride. In the paintings, the figures wear it not just as an accessory, but as a statement. The abstract forms allow the viewer to project their own personality into the work. You do not see just one man — you see many possibilities of confidence.

Fashion, in this series, is not about trends. It is about expression. It is about how what we wear influences how we feel and how we move through the world. The Papa’s Cap, in “The Guy Men,” acts almost like a crown — elevating the everyday into something iconic.
This series is my tribute to style and to everyone who wears the cap with pride. It is my celebration of confidence made visible — worn boldly, worn intentionally, worn with presence.
