Jerry Saltz once said, “Never stay in your own lane. Change styles if you like; switch mediums, materials, whatever. There’s no need for consistency. When people tell you to stay in your lane, they are trying to hold you back or keep you down. Do whatever you want to do and you do it well ” As an artist, I couldn’t agree more. The world around us is constantly changing and evolving, so why should our art stay the same? That’s why I’m always on the lookout for new ways to create and experiment with different styles and techniques.
One of my inspirations in this art is Piet Mondrian, the Dutch painter known for his abstract works and the use of lines, shapes, and primary colours. His simplistic yet expressive approach speaks volumes to me. So I decided to combine his style with my own, using dots and symbols to create Aesthetic Babe 1.
This mixed media painting, measuring 60 by 48 inches, features a female head with a bold hairstyle and colourful earrings. The body is simplified, consisting of lines and shapes in vibrant colours. The title, Aesthetic Babe 1, represents a fashionable and sophisticated girl who is obsessed with her appearance. She believes that looking good is good business.
As an artist, I strive to create dynamic and experimental pieces that capture the essence of the world around us. Aesthetic Babe 1 is just one example of how different styles and techniques can be combined to create something new and unique. So never stay in your lane, and always be open to new possibilities.
