Hue Face is a bold declaration of freedom—raw, fresh, and unapologetic in its use of colour. It stands as a visual exploration of instinct, where every line, texture, and form emerges without hesitation. In this piece, I allowed myself to move beyond overthinking or rigid planning. Instead, I trusted intuition as my guide, letting the painting unfold naturally, stroke by stroke. What mattered most was not the title, not even the destination, but the journey itself—led entirely by colour, design, and flowing lines.
Creating art is most exciting for me when the final outcome remains unknown. With Hue Face, I began with a simple intention: to create a bold, decorative face. Beyond that, nothing was fixed. The painting evolved organically, shaped by emotions, fleeting thoughts, and inner images waiting to be unveiled. Each mark on the canvas became a response to the previous one, forming a dialogue between my inner world and the surface before me. This openness allows the work to breathe, to remain honest, and to retain its raw energy.

The process is deeply personal. As I work, I feel as though I am uncovering an inner picture—something already present within me, but waiting patiently to be revealed. Bringing that image into the world is both vulnerable and liberating. It is an act of translation: converting feeling into form, emotion into colour, and instinct into movement. I hope that viewers can sense this freedom when they engage with the piece, and perhaps feel inspired to connect with their own inner landscapes.
Hue Face measures 36 by 24 inches and is created using lace fabrics and acrylic on canvas. The incorporation of lace adds a tactile richness and layered complexity to the surface, enhancing the visual rhythm of the work. Texture plays a vital role here, working hand in hand with colour and line to create depth and character. The face that emerges is not meant to be literal or fixed; it is decorative, expressive, and open to interpretation.

Ultimately, Hue Face is about surrender—allowing the process to lead, embracing uncertainty, and trusting instinct. It celebrates the beauty of not knowing exactly how things will end, and the magic that happens when we give ourselves permission to explore freely. Through this piece, I invite viewers not just to see, but to feel—to engage with the energy, movement, and spirit embedded within the work.
