In the depths of my memories, I embarked on a soul-stirring voyage to the northern lands of my beloved country. An oasis of diversity, where Hausa, Fulani, and Muslims coexist, this vibrant tapestry of culture fascinated and enchanted me. The distinct attire, the weather’s gentle embrace, the melodic tongues that wove tales, the aromatic flavors that danced upon the palate, and the majestic architectures that stood tall – all spoke of a world utterly unlike my southern abode.
Longing for that treasured sense of nostalgia and the indelible impressions etched within my being, I felt compelled to immortalize these sentiments on canvas. Thus emerged my creation, an African mixed media painting that I aptly named “Northern Reminisce 1.”
At the heart of this masterpiece resides the graceful portrait of a northern Muslim lady, adorned in the hijab that symbolizes her faith and heritage. The essence of her being radiates through the canvas, as vibrant hues intertwine, inviting the viewer to witness the magnificence of her existence.
