There is a unique feeling that comes with knowing someone has chosen to live with a piece of your imagination. Every time one of my paintings finds a new home, I experience a deep sense of joy, gratitude, and encouragement. It is a reminder that the countless hours spent dreaming, experimenting, and creating have connected with another human being in a meaningful way.
As a contemporary African artist, each artwork begins as an idea—sometimes clear, sometimes uncertain. There are moments when I wrestle with an imagination, wondering how it will translate from my mind onto the canvas. Yet I have learned to trust the creative process. I often remind myself, “Paint it anyway. Someone, somewhere, is waiting to see this imagination and fall in love with it.” Every artwork sold reinforces that belief.
The first feeling I experience when my art is purchased is motivation. Every sale inspires me to keep creating and to continue exploring the limitless possibilities of my imagination. I often describe my mind as a field of gold waiting to be excavated. The more I dig into my ideas, the more discoveries I make. Creativity is not something that becomes empty with use; it expands. Every completed painting opens the door to another idea, another colour palette, another story waiting to be told.
Secondly, the support of art collectors strengthens my creative environment. Being able to sustain my studio allows me to focus wholeheartedly on creating new work. Instead of worrying about daily needs and financial pressures, I can devote my energy to experimentation, research, and artistic growth. A supportive environment gives an artist the freedom to create without interruption, and that freedom is invaluable.
Perhaps the most humbling feeling of all is knowing that someone connected with my vision. In a world filled with countless talented artists, a collector chose my work because it spoke to them personally. That realization fills me with gratitude and reminds me that art is ultimately about human connection. A painting is more than colour on canvas—it is a shared emotional experience between the artist and the collector.
Looking back on my journey, I consider it a privilege to have been blessed with the gift of creativity. To have sustained myself through art over the years is something I never take for granted. I give all thanks and glory to God Almighty for making this journey possible and for continually opening doors that have allowed my passion to flourish.
