In “Core 3,” a mesmerizing tableau of African art, I sought to capture the essence of unity and cultural beauty. This acrylic on canvas creation, measuring 60 by 60 inches, is an abstract representation of three captivating head figures, their elongated bodies adorned in vibrant fabrics reminiscent of the Maasai tribe people from the picturesque lands of Kenya and Northern Tanzania.
Enthralled by the graceful contours of the Maasai’s attire, I found myself drawn to the elongated shapes they fashioned with their clothing, which evoked a sense of organic continuity. Thus, I aimed to encapsulate this captivating feeling within the fluid strokes of my brush. In this artistic dance of spontaneity, I depicted the head figures through an amalgamation of dots, symbols, patterns, and shapes, as well as playful stick figures and a burst of colours that mirrored the rich fashion sense of these incredible people. Splashes of vibrant hues adorned their stylish glasses, adding a touch of contemporary flair to their timeless elegance.
The arrangement of the three figures is deliberate. Their heads rest gently upon each other, a symbol of unity, harmony, and a profound connection with oneself and the world around them.
