The Perspective is a body of work that explores how vision—both literal and emotional—shapes our experience of the world. These paintings present abstract heads that also function as bodies, unified forms that blur the boundaries between thought, identity, and presence. Each head is adorned with shapes, motifs, symbols, and flowing patterns rendered in raw, expressive colours. The figures emerge from richly textured backgrounds created with lace fabrics, giving the surface a layered, tactile quality that invites close engagement.
The use of lace as a foundational element adds subtle complexity and depth to the work. It introduces a sense of fragility and intricacy, contrasting beautifully with the bold application of acrylic paint. This textured background allows the colours and symbols to interact with the surface in dynamic ways, creating visual rhythms that feel alive and intentional. Over this base, colour is applied freely—sometimes assertive, sometimes gentle—allowing emotion and instinct to guide each stroke.
A defining aspect of The Perspective is direction. The abstract head faces toward a space that feels bright and filled with hope—a visual field dominated by fresh, warm primary colours. Yellows, reds, and blues come together to suggest light, warmth, and possibility. This directional gaze is symbolic. It represents choice: the conscious decision to look toward optimism, growth, and renewal, even when life presents uncertainty or challenge.

Measuring 48 by 36 inches, The Perspective is created with acrylic and lace fabrics on canvas. The scale allows the work to hold presence without overwhelming the viewer, offering both impact and intimacy. The composition encourages reflection, drawing the eye along the flow of colour and pattern while leaving room for personal interpretation. The motifs and symbols are not meant to be read literally; instead, they function as emotional markers—suggestions of thought, memory, and inner dialogue.
At its core, The Perspective reflects the idea that life is shaped by how we choose to see the situations around us. Our experiences are deeply influenced by perception, attitude, and focus. Through colour, form, and direction, this painting invites viewers to reconsider their own outlook and to recognize the power of perspective in shaping reality.
The Perspective encourages a way of seeing that is positive, vibrant, and open. It is a reminder that even in complexity, there is always the possibility of light. Through this work, I invite viewers to engage not only with what they see on the canvas, but with how they choose to see the world around them.
