As an artist, I believe that the mind is the first canvas where any creation begins. Even before the actual painting is transferred to the canvas, the mind travels to a world of imagination where compositions are born from reality. It is in one of these creative moments that I painted the Portrait in the Mind 4.
The painting is an abstract and expressive portrait that measures 32 by 32 inches. Using markers and acrylic on canvas, I explored the spontaneous use of lines, colours, and dots to create the facial features. The eyes, nose, mouth, and ears are abundantly painted in a way that reminds me of the highly expressive Bamileke sculptural works from Cameroon.
