As an artist, one of my deepest desires is to invite people to see the world through my eyes. Art has taught me that beauty is not always found in grand or extraordinary things. Often, it exists in the overlooked, the ordinary, and even in what society may consider insignificant. Through curiosity and careful observation, the discarded becomes meaningful, and the familiar reveals itself in a new and beautiful light.
This way of seeing has become an essential part of my artistic practice. Every day, I am inspired by the colours, shapes, textures, and forms that surround me. Nature itself constantly reminds me that beauty exists in abundance, waiting to be discovered and appreciated. From these observations emerged Adoration, a series that embodies my fascination with colour, abstraction, and the endless possibilities of imagination.
Adoration is a collection of four mixed-media paintings, each measuring 36 by 48 inches. Created with acrylic, pastel, and marker on canvas, these works explore the female figure in a seated position on the floor. Surrounding each figure are layers of vibrant hues, decorative shapes, patterns, and expressive designs. The heads of the figures are abstracted and inspired by the forms and symbolism of African masks, a visual language that has become deeply rooted in my artistic expression.
The female forms are not intended merely as representations of the body. Rather, they become vessels through which colour, shape, and design interact harmoniously. The figures exist within worlds of their own—spaces where imagination and abstraction merge to create something poetic and visually engaging.
For me, Adoration is much more than a series of paintings. It is an act of appreciation and gratitude. It is my tribute to nature, to beauty, and to the creative spirit that allows us to perceive the world beyond its surface. These works are a celebration of imagination and the endless richness that surrounds us.
In a world often filled with uncertainty and noise, it is easy to become overwhelmed by what is wrong. Yet, despite everything happening around us, beauty still persists. It lives in colours, forms, light, and the simple wonders of everyday existence.
Through Adoration, I hope to encourage viewers to pause, to look closely, and to rediscover the wonder that exists all around them. Sometimes, all it takes is a different perspective to realize that the world, in all its imperfections, remains profoundly beautiful.
